Founded in the heart of Richmond, VA, MAD SWANZ is not just a candle company; it's a story of friendship, heritage, and sustainability. Bridget and Helene, neighbors turned co-founders, embarked on this journey to blend their diverse backgrounds into a unique brand that speaks to families, creativity, and environmental stewardship.

Bridget, hailing from New Zealand, and Helene, from Sweden, both found their way to the United States, where they started their families and eventually called Richmond their home. Their company, MAD SWANZ (Mothers & Daughters, Sweden & New Zealand), is a testament to their journey, representing a fusion of cultures, the bond of motherhood, a commitment to sustainability, and a passion for community.
THE WHY
Bridget, a tech entrepreneur with a keen eye for design and a DIY enthusiast, and Helene, a graphic artist and a devoted mother of three who actively volunteers to give back to the community, share a common goal. They aim to introduce a piece of their rich heritage to Richmond through their craft, focusing on creating a sustainable future for their daughters and the community. By teaching their daughters the ins and outs of running a business, from designing and creating product lines, customer engagement, marketing and the value of earning and saving, they strive to instill values of responsibility, creativity, and entrepreneurship... all while building memories and enjoying some quality mother:daughter time.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
MAD SWANZ is built on the foundation of sustainability and quality. The company proudly partners with a non-profit organization to ensure that with every sale, a tree is planted, embodying their motto, "Our candles plant trees." This initiative reflects their commitment to a greener planet and a sustainable future for their daughters and the world at large.
